The Out of Hours learning programme offers an excellent variety of clubs and subjects. Sessions are delivered by a member of Portchester School staff or through qualified external coaches.
Aims of out of hours learning
• enhance students learning and achievements
• accommodate the interests of all students and strive to encourage,
improve performance and confidence
• deliver clubs to pupils at all times - before school, after school and in the
evenings
• provide something for everyone ranging from cookery to puzzle club and
judo to trampolining
• support students with projects coursework and revision prior to exams
The clubs build relationships both in and out of the classroom and can have a positive impact upon many aspects such as attendance and behaviour in school.
Breakfast Table Tennis Club
Every school morning from 7.30am students are welcome to attend the Breakfast Table Tennis Club, which provides a healthy breakfast and the opportunity to play table tennis with friends before school. The club is an excellent welcome to the school and can help introduce new students into the school community to make new friends and meet staff.
Family Learning activities
We believe it is important to include not only our students, but also their families, we offer family clubs and activities from the differing faculties. We have recently held Castle Building in History, Italian cookery evening with Food Technology and Family Golf Days.
Portchester School Community Table Tennis Club runs every Wednesday evening from 7pm and allows students, their friends and families the opportunity to play and receive some excellent coaching.
We hope you will enjoy out of hours learning programme, which we believe has something for everyone!
